Datuk S. Nantha Balan is a retired Judge of the Court of Appeal, Malaysia. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in August 1988. He joined the Malaysian Judiciary in 2013. He holds the degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Buckingham, England, the Master of Laws from the University of Malaya, and the Certificate in Legal Practice. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London. He is a trainer in the Malaysian Bar Advocacy Training Course. As Judge of the High Court he presided over medical negligence claims. Whilst in the Court of Appeal, he heard appeals from medical negligence cases. He actively promoted and resolved various disputes in the High Court and Court of Appeal via Court Assisted Mediation.
